Lambchop was found along the side of the road. She was “horrifically matted” according to the finder who had her stripped before bringing her to the shelter. Lambchop was pretty shut down at the shelter and so they reached out to us to see if we could take her. What we now know is Lambchop must have had severe ear infections that went untreated for quite some time. As a result, she is deaf. She has thickening ear canals that are extremely painful. We’re treating them with drops to reducing the inflammation before she has a dental, at which time, the vet will be able to scope her ears and see what’s really going on. Lambchop has a slight head tilt and we’re waiting to see if it’s something neurological or just a result of her painful ears.
Lambchop is estimated to be around 10 years of age. She’s has bilateral cataracts but can see quite well. She really enjoys the other dogs in the house and we suspect she finds comfort in knowing they’re there to help her navigate. Watching her trot after them when she comes in the house after being outside is really something. We don’t know what happened to her for the past few years but Lambchop must have been someone’s loving companion at one time. She’s a total love!
Lambchop has a dental (and possible spay) scheduled at the end of the month, providing her ears have improved. We’re accepting donations now to help with her medical care. Please click on the angel link below to make a donation.
Lambchop is being fostered in Upstate NY – about 1/2 south of Albany and a 2 1/2 drive from Boston. Interested applications will be required to visit Lambchop in NY once a home visit has been done.
