Age: 10 y/o | Size: 5 lb | Female Toy Poodle
~ Adoption Pending!
Jewel is a dainty tiny toy poodle who is 10 years old and weighs about 5 pounds. She is very loving, but also very timid. She enjoys getting attention, but she needs time to build up enough courage to approach people. Once she feels comfortable with you, she loves to snuggle and will crawl into your lap. She wags her tail happily when you talk to her sweetly. She sleeps in the bed with her foster parents and will roll around in delight under the covers.
Jewel came from a home with other dogs, but would probably enjoy being someone’s special girl so she doesn’t have to compete for attention. Her right eye was injured by another dog in her previous home and she cannot see out of it. Jewel was never taught to walk on a leash, but she is working on leash walking now in her foster home. She startles very easily by cars and other noises around her, so she would do best in a home with a securely fenced in yard and/or one in a quiet neighborhood. Jewel was trained to use pee pads and will also do her business outside when taken out regularly, but will need continued training and consistency in her new home until she learns the routine. She rides quietly in the car, but does get car sick on extended rides.
Jewel’s ideal home would be in a calm household with an owner who has the time and patience to help her build her confidence. Due to her tiny size and skittish nature, Jewel will be placed in an adult home only. She has an appointment at the end of July to be spayed and have a dental. Once she has recovered from her surgeries, she will be ready to find her forever home. Jewel is a true gem and with a little patience and time, she will thrive!
